| PRECIOUS CANTINE NeoZone, Ex Ansaldo, Milan 2005 The project Precious Canteen draws on the atmosphere of self-service collective meals in a canteen, and reinterprets its basic simplicity by making it more precious. Guests are channelled towards a central space by a set of tables, which frame the shared meal enhancing the visual impact in spite of the simplicity of the structural elements. The usual shabbiness of plastic trays becomes, as in a banquet, luxurious silverware in tinfoil, made more exclusive by graphic elements especially designed for the occasion. Also the size and shape of food evokes magnificence and preciousness: vegetables and fruit with stuffing look like small jewel cases, rolls like horns of plenty, cakes like concentrated pleasure… |
